This policy explains what information Vote to Build at https://votetobuild.com (the "Service") collects, how we use it, and the choices you have. We keep it to what the Service needs to work.

This is an experiment. Do not expect privacy: anything you post can be seen by other members and the operator, so do not share anything private. As features change, data may be lost, reset, or deleted at any time.

1. Information we collect

Account details: your email address and username. If you sign in with a third-party account such as Google, we receive your name, email address, and profile picture from that account.
Content: ideas you submit, your messages with the AI assistant, and your votes.
Usage and security records: sign-up and sign-in times, actions you take (for example, submitting an idea or casting a vote), daily prompt counts, and the IP address of each request. These are kept in a security log.
Email records: which service emails we sent you (such as a welcome message) and when.
Browser storage: a short-lived session cookie that keeps you signed in, and a few settings saved in your browser, such as whether you hid the intro. We do not use advertising or tracking cookies.

2. How we use it

To create and secure your account and keep you signed in.
To run the Service: show the idea board, count votes, and refine your ideas with the AI assistant.
To enforce the community rules and usage limits, and to prevent abuse.
To send a small number of service emails, such as a welcome message or a note when your idea is selected. We do not send marketing email.
To decide what to build and to improve the Service.

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use it for advertising.

3. Who we share it with

We use a small number of service providers who process data on our behalf, only to run the Service:

a hosting and database provider, which stores the Service and its data;
an authentication provider, which handles sign-up and sign-in;
an email delivery provider, which sends service emails;
an AI model provider, which receives your messages to the assistant in order to generate replies.

Your username, ideas, and vote counts are visible to other members. We may also disclose information if the law requires it, or to protect the Service, its members, or others.

4. AI assistant

Messages you send to the assistant are processed by our AI model provider to generate a reply. Please do not include personal, confidential, health, or financial information in them.

5. How long we keep it

We keep your account and Content while your account exists. Security and usage records are kept for as long as they are needed to protect the Service, and may be kept after an account is closed. Ideas from past cycles are archived and may be kept indefinitely.

6. Your choices and rights

You can ask us to access, correct, export, or delete your personal information, or to close your account. Depending on where you live, you may have further rights, such as objecting to or restricting how we use your information, and complaining to a data protection authority. 7. Security

We use reasonable measures to protect your information, including encrypted connections and access controls. No service is perfectly secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.

8. Children

The Service is not intended for children under 13 (under 16 in the European Economic Area or the UK), and we do not knowingly collect their information. If you believe a child has given us information, contact us and we will delete it.

9. International use

The Service and its providers may process information in countries other than yours, which may have different data protection laws.

10. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy. We will change the effective date above, and if the changes are significant we will post a notice in the Service.
